Happy WSOP Fourth of July

Thought I might have an easy table at last week’s WSOP Limit Shootout playing Jeff Madsen until Phil Hellmuth sat down next to me… read about it on Full Tilt. It’s a Happy July Fourth on the WSOP floor.  Probably because it’s mostly vacant, although, there’s a crowd at the ESPN Tournament of Champions [...]

Random WSOP Congratulations Shannon Shorr

Shannon Shorr recently tweeted he was reading former NBA referee Tim Donaghy’s new book.  Shorr also graduated from college which means…he’s probably telling the truth that’s he reading.   Shorr and Eric Buchman  are short on chips in WSOP Event #18 2k Limit Hold’em but they’re still grinding it out. If you see Shorr in the hallways at [...]

Ways Phil Ivey’s Elimination Could Have Been Better

Phil Ivey’s  emlination from the 2009 WSOP final table caused a minor explosion.  Ivey gave a couple of interviews then he left the building. That’s when the WTF’s started.  While interviews are part of tournament coverage, it isn’t exactly comfortable talking to players just after they leave the table. Ivey walked out after a huge poker elimination. So what. Would it [...]

Coming Soon: The 2009 WSOP

Special thanks to Seth Palansky, WSOP Communications Director, for communicating so effectively on the 2009 WSOP.  The WSOP  is only 19 days away. Palansky also mentioned a new bracelet winner ceremony on the day after the win. This means winners will receive the bracelet in front of thousands of people at 2pm instead of a few [...]

WSOP Conference Call Coming Soon

The WSOP is having the ask-me-anything-conference-call on April 28th.  It’s about the 2009 WSOP,  so don’t ask questions unrelated to the WSOP.   Or how big will the prize pool be?  I might ask Jeffrey Pollack if he will have In-N-Out Burger cater the final tables.  Since they had Krispy Kremes (for sale) last year, I might ask for hot Krispy Kremes this year. Pollack will be [...]
