No idea if the sun is setting on the Rio right now because the one thing forbidden in Las Vegas are windows.  But I do know there are 765 players left in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.

For live updates click here.  We also like to follow pros like Shannon Shorr for their own personal updates like his most recent tweet:

Stay out of trouble Shannon….

Lack Of Live Twitter Coverage Of ESPN WSOP

Its ESPN 2009 WSOP Poker Night and it seems most poker players are too busy watching the show to update Facebook or Twitter. I would think there would be more… “Can you believe that play?” Or “what’s up with that shirt?” However, I haven’t seen much live coverage of the coverage.
I haven’t watched the show yet because I have a Tuesday night commitment so I was hoping to read a teaser from some of my…friends.
Maybe I’m hanging with the wrong crowd. Maybe I should follow the November Nine. Should be some good post quality tweets there…
No pics. I’m mobile.

Judging Covers: Hookers & Tweets

hooker

hookerIt all happened on TwitterNot minding my own business, I was reading tweets when suddenly… a tweet link appeared…just tried a Hooker.  Hmmm, interesting… a Hooker?   Had it been P Diddy, Ashton Kutcher or Jeff Madsen, I wouldn’t have clicked (no offense Jeff but I’m more interested in your spittin’ out lyrics).  I mean come on…  no one is going to promote a prostitution habit on the Internet, so coming from them… it would have been an obvious guy joke.

But the Hooker link came from a legit and safe media… woman.  Hooker talk + Woman = I MUST CLICK.  I know it was safe to look because I have a lot of Twitter experience, plus… I don’t follow any female Twitter users promoting naughty things. In other words… those females promoting naughty things…might actually really be Hookers.  Or men.  Anyway, feeling it was safe to assume the link pointed to safe Hookers, I clicked.  OK, fine.  I thought it pointed to a company with a sense of humor my mother wouldn’t find appropriate for a charity luncheon.  Because after all, when someone mentions Hookers, it’s gonna be a little chaotic.  And good ol’ chaos can be oh-so-addictive… right?

As it turns out, I was right and wrong.  I was correct to assume, when someone mentions Hookers… it doesn’t always mean it’s illegal activity.  On the contrary, I was completely inaccurate to assume these poor Hookers were  inappropriate for a luncheon.  Ironically, these very Hookers should not only be in attendance at the luncheon but they should have their own special menu.  As they’re actually quite innocent and sweet if you can just get past the label.  Thank you Hookers for reminding me that just because a person is a Hooker doesn’t mean they’re a hooker.

As a side note… if anyone hears my daughter mention Hookers… she thinks it’s women who wear mid-driff tops and wear a lot of make-up.  Cheerleaders and Princess Jasmine are exceptions to this rule.

Not Bitter With Twitter

twitter_logo-copy

twitter_logo-copyTwitter broke my heart.  OK, not really, but it bummed me out.   In Feb of 2007 I had (what I thought was) a great sms idea.  Develop a site and software for poker players to sms updates and info to a website so everyone could follow at one location.  I was inspired by the busy phone lines of 2005 Hurricane Rita traffic jam (when I taught my mother-in-law to text to help her find gas ) and my ever buzzing phone at the 2006 WSOPfrom sms update requests.  With text fans increasing and sms charges decreasing, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a site providing such a service. Or so it seemed. So… I shared my idea with with a couple of friends, forked out some cash to an intellectual property attorney, bought a domain name and jumped into a research frenzy.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything out there except for one site….  www.letmeparty.com, a site providing free sms to your blog, MySpace or site. I signed up and contacted the programmer, but they were too busy with school at the time.  Guess someone let them party for a loooong time or something.  Jack Dorsey… where were you when I needed you most?

Anyway, long story short, a few months later the word Twitter became a new noun, 2007 WSOP provided busy times, the project wasn’t moving  fast enough to beat a fast paced tech world while keeping the idea quiet and did I mention the issue of busy?  So…meh.  Good news though…I can sms updates whenever I want because… I use Twitter now

I’m not a bitter Twitter bitch.  In fact, I’m glad Dorsey was able to do something really cool that’s free.  So, he need not fear that I would stoop for an ego-vengeance or physical lawsuit like the Opti-Grab cross-eyed guy in The Jerk.  After all, we’re talking about technology.  And thanks to technology… we have blogs for the need-to-be-right-or-make-everyone-listen disorder (which apparently I’m suffering from).   Plus, Anksy Gugel ranked me 22 in the top 100 poker blogs and that means that someone out there actually listens to me (other than my husband when facing my index finger and a hot frying pan).  I mean, I didn’t even know I had a blog until… nevermind, I don’t have anything clever to follow.

Sorry to ramble, it’s been a while.  Nonetheless, If you’re wanting to follow a bunch of peep’s tweets then check out some cool applications here

Oh yeah, the domain name I bought to track poker players is/was… www.StackTrackers.com .  It’s for sale but due to economic hard times I’ve reduced the price from one billion to one million dollars.   Because buying a ten dollar domain is way better than buying a house or a million tea bags.
