NFL Makes Poker Person Happy

Finally.  Houstonians have something to cheer about other than the return of electricity. The Houston Texans won their first game of the season today despite holes still in the roof.  It was a grim moment when the fourth down went south but fortunately the challenge was given a do-over approval.  I swear I could hear the players yelling "do-over! do-over!" And I’m so glad we didn’t leave the game before they re-did their do-over.  Even better was my son witnessing some fourth quarter success.

So how does this relate to poker?  Well, Seth Palansky of course.  Palansky, Communications Director for the World Series of Poker, was Director of Media Services for the NFL and before that… headed publicity campaigns for Fox Sports Net.

Sure, that might be impressive but not nearly as much as Palansky having Andre Johnson on his fantasy football league.  But I guess in the end, it really depends on whether or not one finds 178 receiving yards impressive.  At a minimum, this year the Texans will match the Miami Dolphins 2007 record.

Should the Texans win first draft pick…

By the way, don’t play poker with Palansky.  He says he doesn’t know how to play but he killed the WSOP media event.

Bluff Not Sold & Palansky + Pollack WSOP Preparations

The new WSOP Director of Corporate Communications, Seth Palansky, is probably practicing his perfect NFL spiral to Jeffrey Pollack in the Amazon Ballroom right now. Actually, considering the liability of tag football around ESPN’s equipment, the long hallway outside the ballroom makes more sense. Nonetheless, when I see them together I’m going to call them the P & P Poker Factory.  Now if we could just get them to sing…”Everybody Play Now”  No offense to any real C & C Music Factory fans. But hey, I’m just a squirrel trying to get a nut and apparently the music just took control.  In fact, just listening to the C & C YouTube video has made me want to broadcast myself stand up and do the robot dance in Starbucks.  If you’re not following my ADD tangent then click the link above.

Not sure if Eric Morris, Bluff Magazine and baseball junkie, is there yet back up dancing cheering them on but I am sure he will be disappointed when I tell him I didn’t see Jeff Bagwell or Craig Biggio at the pool this weekend.  Rumors have been circulating lately that Bluff was recently sold.  “I was the last to hear” joked Morris before confirming the rumor to be just that…a rumor.  Hmmm, I’m sure he would sell for the right price.  After all, isn’t that the beauty of capitalism?  In the meantime…Bluff Media will be broadcasting some of the final tables here.

Poker World Still Going On…

Yes, I know, it’s been a while.  I’ve had things going on in my life and apparently while I was doing “whatever” the poker world continued without me.

There is a new poker hall of fame for women.

The Jen Harman S.P.C.A.Charity Event will take place in April.  Here is the video from last year.

Harrah’s announced NFL Executive Seth Palansky Director of Communications for Sports & Entertainment Division.  Palansky will be replacing Gary Thompson who is now Director of Corporate Communications for Harrah’s Entertainment.

Despite being busy, I did manage to interview a Stud of Poker. I will announce the new Stud in the next few days.  Stay tuned…
