WSOPE Proves Strange Poker Events

For those of you who were too drunk to watch the WSOPE after the Super Bowl last night, you missed some crazy, wild poker playing. Here are a few things worth mentioning:

Scotty Nguyen playing quietly without a beer or a “hey baby.”

Phil Hellmuth acting like a gentleman.

Phil Laak playing the best hand post flop. Twice .

Dealers burning and turning without a twenty minute delay.

But special thanks to Gary Loveland and his responsible gaming commercial to provide some familiarity to our weekly dose of poker.

Too bad for any typos, I’m tired.

Phil Laak in Disguise and So On and So On

Phil Laak, who wore an old man disguise in the 2008 WSOP Main Event, continues with his part deux interview. You know, the Phil Laak disguise (photo below – courtesy Bluff) that could have like totally had a Scooby Doo ending but didn’t.

Phil Laak Disguise is True But No Scooby Doo

Thanks again to Fastasleep for the photos of Phil Laak and his old man disguise. I took a picture of Laak’s WSOP seat at the beginning of Day 1D which was two tables over from UFC fighter, Forrest Griffin. Unfortunately, the leaked news will prevent Laak from standing up from the poker table to pull off the mask and say:

“And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!”

Now online is a Laak disguise interview with CardPlayer where he talks about his experience as an old man and acting tips from sexpot, Jennifer Tilly.

Forrest Griffin Playing 2008 WSOP Main Event

The 2008 WSOP Main Event has officially exceeded last year’s number by at least 500. Playing poker today… Forrest Griffin (photo below) may look like he had a bad beat but you should see the other guy. Apparently, Griffin won the UFC fight last night… but that’s hearsay. Talk about a hangover.
