Commodore 64 User, Generation X mother, Social Media, Not a Ninja…

Writing: My first publication was a sports article for the University of Houston’s Daily Cougar newspaper. My first Internet job was writing online reviews in 1999. Around that time, I wrote a screenplay, which will remain nameless.

In 2006, I started a few blogs and began writing about culture, policy, politics, parenting, poker and technology. I’m currently consolidating my writing to this site.

Policy: B.A. in Psychology + minor in Sociology. My degree plan focused on Urban Social Analysis, Cultural Psychology, American Social Class + Mobility and Social Psychology.

I developed a passion for political campaigns when I volunteered at the 1992 Republican National Convention. I’m a No Party Swing Voter.

I’ve been asked to assist with State Legislation in Texas twice.

Culture: I’m a mother of two children, one of which is a cancer-survivor. For nearly a decade, I’ve researched green products, VOCs, organic foods; and other environmental issues. I’ve donated to charity but I’m mostly proud of my long hours of volunteer work.

I’m, at least, a 13th generation American. I’m familiar with Western Civilization.

Tech: My tech experience started with our Commodore PET and my first computer was a Commodore 64. I began using the Internet in the 1980s. I took BASIC in High School + COBOL Programming in college, I only remember “Hello World!” However, I am experienced in HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript + jQuery.

I had the first Atari, I’ve since upgraded to an XBox 360, Wii, iPhone and DSi.

Women: I’m a woman.

Work: I developed business skills running a development company and owning my own real estate brokerage for nearly a decade. This industry provided human resources, management and financial experience but was uninspiring. After making a 2006 World Series of Poker final table, I returned to online media.

I’m not a professional player nor affiliated with online sites. Yes, I play but mostly I produced news and multi-media in the online community. Since 2006, I’ve created content for ESPN, Bluff Media, WSOP as a columnist, chapter author and more. I tried mom blogging but never felt comfortable putting someone else’s life online for my own benefit.

I do not require website, SEO or social media services, as I maintain this self-hosted WordPress site myself but thank you for the unsolicited offers. I also don’t need any fake LV handbags.
