Trying Diatomaceous Earth for Natural Pest Control

In college, I used the company Fleabusters, for a safe, non-toxic flea elimination powder.  I noticed it also eliminated Houston’s infamous large tree roaches.  The ingredients are unknown but read it’s a combination of Diatomaceous Earth (the food grade not the swimming pool grade) DE, table salt and Borax.  Supposedly, it’s a non-toxic product that’s FDA approved.

From what I read, Diatomaceous Earth is a natural way to eliminate bed bugs and dust mites but it’s more common use is natural bug control for gardening.  I read some people ingest a teaspoon a day for a healthy intestinal tract.  Interesting.  But you have to be careful not to inhale because it’s bad for the lungs.

I’m also a professional when it comes to the many uses of baking soda.  I use baking soda making clay for my kids, cleaning pans and for baking cookies.  Pretty cool that one product is used for baking and cleaning a cat box.  Sounds like the SNL edible diapers commercial.  Best part, you don’t have to worry about your kids or pets getting sick from exposure.  Of course, if your kid is a teenager and they are using all your baking soda to make crack… you might have a problem.  I was researching Borax and discovered it’s also used for intestinal parasites and that 85% of Americans have intestinal parasites.  Which is disgusting. I hope my probiotics keep me in the 15%.

If anyone has any experience with all of the above, please let me know.  Considering liability fears, it’ll be difficult to get an honest professional answer.  But I will share my experience on the matter soon.  Please note, I’m not a professional on this topic.  This post reflects information I found on the Internet that I found interesting.
