Instant Butt Lift iPhone App Kicked My Butt

shape-instant-butt-lift

Photo Courtesy iTunesIf I had downloaded Shape’s Instant Butt Lift iPhone App two months ago, I could have used it during the WSOP to tighten and tone the glutes.  Unfortunately, I maintained the blogger butt workout which involves a lot of sitting and… thinking.  Wait, that was a half-truth.  I walked around some and talked a lot.  Because I like to talk.  A lot.  That’s why Pokerati Dan and I get along so well.  He once had a really big cell phone bill because of me.  OK, that’s freaky… Dan’s calling me right now.

Anyway, I do lunges and squats all the time, however, after trying  Instant Butt Lift yesterday,  my muscles are sore today.   The app allows you to pick workouts for home or at the gym.  It also has timers, videos, and you can manage saved sets.  It’s like having my own personal trainer only it’s $1.99, less bossy and works around my schedule.  Hopefully, this app will get my rear in gear so I can just say “no” to blogger butt.

Beat Cancer Without Health Insurance

livestrong

livestrongWatching a family member battle cancer is hard.  In the past few years, I’ve watched my husband’s grandfather lose, my son win and now my father is fighting round two.  During the Lance Armstrong yellow bracelet craze, my son was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor.  He was two-years-old.

Until today, I never realized Armstrong fought cancer without health insuranceHealth insurance wasn’t an issue for my family but I have to wonder about the patients I watched  suffering in the infusion room.  As if fighting the disease wasn’t enough stress.

Children Feeling Foreclosure Stress

It always amazes me how simple it is to slip into a world of… too busy to notice anything outside the daily to do list.  I try to remind myself and encourage my children to feel gratitude for a roof over our heads, food on the table and good health.  And I admit, since my voluteer days evolved then dissolved post hurricane… I don’t remember gratitude as often as I should (which should be remembered constantly).  I am far from perfect and like others… days unfold, news clicks on, car horns honk, paper work awaits, stress lingers and fingers point.   However, Erik Eckholm and Arianna Huffington pulled my evening from a self-spun-head-zone with…

“We live in a country that, one year ago this month, came together with a sense of national emergency, and bailed out banks that were “too big to fail.  Shouldn’t we also be living in a country that can come together right now and bail out schoolchildren that are too small to be allowed to fail before they have been allowed to succeed?”

While banks, unemployment rates and health care have always taken focus, it seems the little things in life have remained… little.  Naturally, we can’t keep children sheltered forever, however, these children can barely stay awake during school due to stress.  Homeless children is not something we want to ponder, as it makes the heart cringe to think some child is trying to console desperate parents during hard times.    So, where is your head today?  The uneasy homeless children story can become the uncomfortable task of reaching out or just a quick click to… Megan Fox.

Cold of Head Puts Me in Bed

Don’t bother making any comments on bed or head because I’m married.  In other words… I’ve already heard every possible joke at least three times.  Anyway, I am currently battling a head cold because I ignored this horoscope ”Michele, you will be feeling under the weather soon.  Make sure you take a lot of vitamin C.” Naturally, I blew off the advice because I felt fine at the time.  Plus, I take 1000 mg of vitamin C a day.  Isn’t that a lot of vitamin C?  BJ, I bet you have an answer.  Well,  instant gratification Google sent me this site… I didn’t take enough.

Oh well, now I’m in hell because…. me and my kids haven’t had food in days, I’m afraid to go out in public due to all the car bombings, I lost all my possessions in the typhoon I haven’t made it to the gym.

On a totally different note… apparently the whole “They’re gonna do away with the penny.” was a 30 year-old rumor.  Check out Abe Lincoln’s new digs and cents.

Sunday! Sunday! Bunsday! + Liz Lieu Parties Right

While I would like to say my iPod and booty Boom Boom Powed on the StairMaster today… the only buns I have to write about are the hot-dog buns I had for lunch.  And they were quite tasty.  No worries, I put 5 days towards  my 90 day blogger butt goal this week.  Besides, last night I twittered, tweeted, sent a twit… asking if jeans really shrink in your closet.  Liz Lieu confirmed they did so… I’m all good.  Or at least I thought I was until my husband and I pondered the irony of Liz Lieu worrying about her jeans fitting.

Speaking of Liz Lieu… Happy Birthday, Liz.  And I have to say… you had a very cool birthday party.

That’s pretty much it for today.  Oh, except Sookie on HBO’s True Blood may love Bill but Eric is…

My posts will be picking back up when school starts so stick around I’ll be right back.

I Poker Break for Diatomaceous Earth

houstonian club thumbnail

When I’m not spending the bulk of my day playing poker I also have a serious research addiction.  OK, that was a joke.  Not really.  Yes, it was… but not the research part.  OK, that was too because truly my research is not an addiction but a quest for knowledge (which is a polite way of saying… I suffer from decision making procrastination).

Anyway, back in college, I fell in love with Fleabusters, known for a safe, non-toxic flea elimination powder.  And to my delight… it also eliminated Houston’s infamous large tree roaches.  The powder ingredients are unknown but I’ve heard it’s a combination of Diatomaceous Earth (the food grade not the swimming pool grade) DE, table salt and Borax.  Which kills pretty much any multi-legger smaller than a ping pong ball.   Even better that it’s non-toxic because I’m a total Green fiend when it comes to clean.

I’m also a professional when it comes to the many uses of baking soda.  I’m not a drug dealer but I do use it to make clay for my kids, make my pots and pans sparkle and to bake cookies.  Personally, I think its really frickin’ cool that one product can be used for baking something yummy and also used in a cat box.  Doesn’t that sound like the SNL commercial for edible diapers?  The best part, you don’t have to worry about your kids or pets getting sick from exposure.  Of course, if your kid is a teenager and they are using all your baking soda to make crack… you might have a problem.

Also, while I was researching Borax I discovered it’s also used for intestinal parasites and that 85% of Americans have worms crawling around in their stomachs.   I seriously hope my probiotics keep me in the 15%! Gross.  So, if anyone has any experience with all of the above, please let me know.  I’m pretty sure in modern liability insurance times it will be difficult to get a straight professional answer.  But I will share my experience on the matter soon.  Yo.
